If you are going to install your home yourself, here are some things you need to know:
Homes are shipped in containers and will be unloaded at your desired location. It is the responsibility of the buyer to move the product into the final position after it is offloaded if chosen to self-install. If your home is to be placed on the ground, you will need to either crane your home in position or purchase hydraulic lift jacks with wheels and adapters that attach to the home so you can move the home around. Your Houdini representative can help you source them online.
All the individual components should come marked. If you are unclear about anything at all or how something comes together we have instructions and videos that can help. At the time of your purchase, you will be assigned a project manager who will help you with all aspects of your order, from shipping logistics to assembly questions and even warranty parts management. Our project manager will be your personal concierge throughout the entire process.
You will need a solid and level foundation for the home to sit on so there is no misalignment. That can be as simple as concrete blocks or a full cement foundation. If you are in a hurricane or high wind prone area, it is advisable to use a manufactured home tie-down system that can be purchased online to secure the home in high winds. Additionally, if you live in a flood-zone area, putting your home on elevated blocks or stilts is also an option upon request.
The Drive trailer comes unassembled in kit form and ships inside the Houdini Pop-Up.
You will need to purchase hydraulic lift jacks and adapters to lift the home up so you can attach the components to the home. Your Houdini representative can help you find them online. The light/brake kit is removable after you arrive at your destination. You will have a choice of 14” or 15” tires to accommodate the height of your vehicle. The gross weight of the trailer and home is approximately 8500 lbs. Consult your vehicle’s maximum tow weight so as not to damage your vehicle.
The Aqua Villa floating dock comes in 4’ x 20’ completed sections with 4’ x 10’ ABS floats that will need to be attached. It needs to be assembled completely with the hardware provided. It will need to be attached permanently to either sunken marine pilings or a fixed seawall. The Aqua Villa will require a crane service to pick the home up and place it on the floating dock once the dock is assembled in the water.
All Houdini Pop-Ups come with an interior kitchen and bathroom components. The plumbing outlets are already installed. The interior electrical outlets and basic lighting with a disconnect are in place, but you will have to attach lighting and electrical sockets. The customer is responsible for supplying electrical service to the home, a water source, and sewerage connections.
